| Born in New Zealand, Robin trained as a teacher and traveled extensively before opting to study sculpture and pottery. She came to California in 1980, working first at a pottery studio in Carmel Valley and then in Forest Knolls where she set up Red Fox Studios. She has recently moved to Sebastopol and has laboriously shifted her studio with her. Robin works in large sculptural stoneware forms, a wide variety of stoneware clay, porcelain bowls and other functional forms. Her work is fired to 2400-2600 degrees Farenheit in a gas kiln with a reduction atmosphere, the end result is a beautiful one-of-a-kind hand-crafted piece of art that is practical, functional and dishwasher/microwave safe. She has just ventured out to the world of sculpture, using her pottery technique she is able to create amazing forms inspired by her Northern California surrounds. Her work can be viewed at many galleries around the Bay area and her platters are featured at the Culinary Institute of America. | ||
